What happened to January? Here's what I've been doing!
Oh my God! I blinked and suddenly...It's the end of January! I am horrified by the lack of blog posts, but I promise that I had good reason!
Aside from that nasty flu and cold that landed in my house and has yet to fully depart, this month has been a whirlwind of activity! First, we celebrated the New Year and my birthday...Years ago the numbers on the cake were smaller, and the parties were bigger. But I wouldn't change a moment!
Then, I started what I like to all my Tour d' Tasting! For the record, I've gained 7 pounds with no signs of stopping! It all began at N9NE Steakhouse. Tonight is the big re-opening, but my when I met my fabulous grooms Rocco and Marek to discuss their wedding in Puerta Vallarta! We kicked it old school with S'Mores. Yummy yummy goodness!
Then I was off to the Westin Lake Las Vegas, where Amy, Eric & I dined on a five course lunch presented by Ronnie Anderson and his team of culinary experts. There were hors d'oeuvres, salad, soup, short ribs, pasta, cake, and more! But that was only the beginning!
First, we started with L&L - my incredibly cool couple from New York determined to do it their way! We've decided to hold back on the good stuff as not to set off a spoiler alert, but I can share this:
I know that you are supposed to just "taste" but when the food is this good, sometimes you just have to EAT! And the one thing that the bride asked for last-minute was a super traditional, white frosted cake that was extra sugary and especially delicious. As always, our pastry chef obliged! It was almost too much, which is what made it just right!
On the heels of four days of back to back tastings I paused for a "How ya doing?" lunch with my local bride, Michelle. Having a local foodie as a client definitely has it's perks! And on this day, we found ourselves at Honey Salt sharing the most delicious bread pudding ever served!
I stopped eating for a night to do a wedding - more to come on that! All I can say for now is WOW! The One80 Suite at the Red Rock Hotel is unlike anything I have ever seen! Here's a little preview. And, yes, that is the leg of Elvis in the top corner!
Back to the food - Michelle & Michael invited me to join them at their tasting with Shelly Sampson at Siena Golf Course.
And let us not forget the cake! On two separate trips to Peridot Sweets I tasted cakes in every flavor, fillings in every combination, and berry abound! We talked fondant and butter cream, naked cakes and upside down mysteries. In the end, we have two wedding cakes and a very splashy groom's cake coming our way in the next few months!
And after all of this, I settled in for a few well deserved cocktails with my lovely (and very patient!) husband and our friends....
When BAM! This arrives at the door! It's Eleni's Decorate Your Own Cookie Care Package - showing that truly the goodness of Engage! never ends!
It is kid-fun approved and adorable! Such a great way to invite someone to be a part of your wedding party, and an even better treat for the little ones coming to the big party!
If it feels like a whirl wind of wedding planning, cake tasting, over eating and insanity, that's because it was! But I have to say that my couples all rock! I get to work with the coolest couples in the world, get to eat the best food, in the most stunning venues...I am feeling very grateful right now! This whole ride is a dream come true for me! And so to those that spent the month with me...Thank you! And to those who missed me - or just thought I was OOO - I'm back!
Stay tuned in the next few weeks as I FINALLY share the professional photos from last season's weddings, introduce a few new couples, and share my thoughts on everything from the tipping point (is there a point?!?) to what makes me different!
