A Vintage Las Vegas Wedding at The Flamingo
When Lindsey Green was a girl, she visited Las Vegas with her father took her to Las Vegas on vacation. As they walked through the city, they spotted a bride who wandered through The Flamingo, pausing to take photos with the birds.
"When you get married," her father said, "I will bring you back here and you can get married with the birds."
And one year ago today, after nearly a decade of dating and a relationship that spanned the trip-state area, Lindsey Green married Lockheart Steel in the gardens of The Flamingo Las Vegas.
I have to admit, when I first met Lindsey & Lockhart, I found The Flamingo to be an odd choice. After all, the bride is a marketing prodigy who spent her early years building, founding, and growing companies, non-profits, and start ups. The groom is best known as the founder of Eater, Curbed, and Racked, blogs known for celebrating food, real-estate, and retail. But when I heard the story of Lindsey and her father, I just felt that - yes - this is exactly where they belonged.
The Flamingo turned out to be an ideal source of inspiration; guiding us in everything from our color palette (bright white and hot pink, naturally) to our menu (classic Vegas buffet with an elegant twist). The music was all things Top 40 and 80's inspired, with The Smith's shutting it down and keeping the party going all night!
Since their wedding a year ago, Lock, Lindsey, and I have stayed in touch; favoriting each other's tweets, liking each other's Instagram posts, and occasionally meeting up in Vegas to talk food and wine, real-estate and life. And every time I see the Flamingo I smile, remembering how one day not too long ago, we helped a little girl turn into a bride and a long turn couple into a happily married one!
