Las Vegas Wedding Planner showcases Vera Wang Wedding Dresses and discusses tattoos at an upscale wedding. Many thanks to Photographer Adam Trujillo, Hyde Bellagio, Couture Bride, Your Beauty Call and - of course - the lovely Sabina Kelley.
Can a bride showcase her tattoos and still look stunningly elegant on her wedding day? Are you kidding...
According to reports, nearly 40% of adults between the ages of 18 and 40 years old report having at least one tattoo. That's a lot of ink! And while we can all agree that there are a good amount of unfortunate tattoos out there, the truth is that most tattoos are an expression of one's self, marking a time in the owners life, benchmarking a success, paying tribute to a love (living or lost) and literally becoming a part of who they are in a way few other art forms do. And yet when it comes to weddings, there is almost always the question of whether or not to cover up the bride's body art.
The question of what to do with your tattoos on your wedding day always is somewhat surprising to me. I am forever telling my couples to be themselves, to infuse their personality and history into their wedding and to focus on what makes them who they are. And while I have helped brides and grooms cover tattoos that they no longer love or would prefer to downplay, I have never suggested to anyone that they hide such an important part of themselves - on their wedding day or at any other time in their life!
I know, I know...Your grandmother is going to be freaked out! Your mother is having a fit. Your fiancé's father's business partner's third cousin isn't going to like it. Well, boo-hoo! Did any of that matter when you got the tattoo? I doubt it. If you love your tattoo and if you wear it proudly every day, then I believe that it is one more thing you should celebrate on your wedding day!
Just look at these photos! Could international pin-up model and all around stunner Sabina Kelley look any more amazing than she does right now? When I look at these photos I see soft. I see romantic. I see elegance and classic beauty. I see the bride, in all of her beauty. Her work only heighten who she is. They are an accessory to everything else that she is, adding beauty. Not taking from it.
To feature a piece like this and not acknowledge that this level of work and commitment to the art is for the non-traditional would be a lie. Anyone who has put this much time and thought into designing their body art is clearly willing to side step conventional ideals. This is the perfect bride for Black by Vera Wang. Crafted in the same sumptuous fabrics and with the icon cut that Vera Wang is famous for, these black, grey and nude gowns celebrate the classic form of a wedding dress with the drama and elegance that black brings to just about everything it touches! Not for the faint of heart!
Since we are exploring all things Vera Wang, don't forget about your bridesmaids! Love the girl, love the ink! Make sure that she feels beautiful standing beside you - with or without tattoos!
I cannot say "thank you" enough to the lovelies at Couture Bride who allowed us to use these amazing works of art by Vera Wang! Leading the charge was Adam Trujillo, who took these beautiful photos. Your Beauty Call not only provided hair and makeup, by owner LaVey actually posed in the bridesmaid dress - and she was pregnant at the time, too! Naakiti Floral added just the right touch of flowers, and Hyde Bellagio was generous in allowing the team to shoot on location. And, of course, to the ethereal beauty that is Sabina Kelley - You brought this to life like no one else could!
Love, wedding planning & just a little ink, always...
