Laura & Muneeb at Bellagio. With Love from the Amalfi Coast
A Pakistani groom. An Italian Bride. Two lovers transplanted to Canada....who became engaged in New York....planning a wedding in Las Vegas!
With such an international and deeply eclectic background, Las Vegas felt like a fun and fresh alternative for their wedding. After celebrating their engagement with a trip to the Amalfi Coast, Laura and Muneeb returned to Canada to begin planning their wedding with me. Once I tapped into the bride’s history and their love of Europe, it was clear that only the iconic Bellagio would do! Laura & Muneeb were dedicated to creating an experience that allowed their guests to enjoy atmosphere of the Amalfi Coast, which they love so much. The olive trees and magnolia branches set the tone for an elegant outdoor wedding, while the architecture, iron gates, and curved balconies lent romance and structure to the space. From the very beginning we knew that we wanted to keep the design very clean and elegant. Laura is a classic beauty with timeless style. We wanted the wedding to feel like her, and so we stayed within a neutral color palette of ivory, gold, and green. The only pop of color we used was yellow, found in the lemons on the Amalfi Coast and spread throughout our space.
Laura and her bridesmaids spent the morning relaxing in beautiful blooming robes, having their hair and make up done by the talented team from Amelia C & Co while sipping on champagne and watching the fountains from their Cyprus Suite. Laura did manage to find a few moments for herself, writing and rewriting her vows. Muneeb, very cool under pressure, spent the day with his friends and family, stopping buy the pool, trying his luck at the tables, and grabbing a quick lunch before slipping into his tux.
Getting married on the pool deck of the Bellagio on a holiday weekend presents certain challenges in terms of privacy. To ensure that our couple enjoyed a level of intimacy, we created a private space in the middle of the madness by bringing in hedge walls. They created an outdoor room for our guests to enjoy. Our bride exited a cabana and took a long walk through the hedges and towards her groom. There, beneath the balcony, Laura and Muneeb exchanged personal promised along with their rings. And can I just say OMG! What a ring!
For the cocktail hour we created an Italian Market Place. Bistro style tables and chairs were set out amount the trees, while stations offering fritto misto, fresh baked pizza, and gelato were set around the perimeter. To honor Muneeb’s Muslim heritage we refrained from setting up a full bar, offering Italian sodas and flavored water in the main piazza, and libations in the back.
Our bride and groom were heavily involved in the decor process and had a hand in selecting every element from the chairs to the linens, napkins, runners, and roses. Of all the things Laura loved and wished for, chandeliers were at the top of her list. We worked closely with Bellagio to install a dazzling row of them above heave on the Grand Patio. To keep things interesting and fresh we stepped away from the traditional round or long tables, and instead installed massive X shaped tables with towering, lush florals in the centers. I loved the urns! They were so romantic and gave the space an old-world vibe.
Other special touches included fresh lemons with green stock escort cards in the shape of leaves, Bread Bags with the menu printed in calligraphy, and a traditional Millefoglie wedding cake.
DJ Mike Fox kept the dance floor packed, as always, and our guests danced well into the night. The party continued throughout the weekend at day clubs and casino until our bride and groom departed on their first of TWO honeymoons. First, they jetted off to Mexico for a week of fun and sun. In a few months my newlyweds will be heading to the Middle East on an epic adventure that include the Maldives, Dubai, and all sorts of lavish locations. Be sure to check my Instagram - their photos promise to be too good not to share!
