When Kailin Zhen met Min Wang, they were both deeply focused on their studies. Falling in love while tackling the demands of medical school certainly wasn't easy, but with a soft, quiet affection and just so much respect for one another, the two built a life that feels somewhat like Grey's Anatomy!
Min proposed to Kailin just as the two prepared for a move to Texas where they would be doing a joint residency at the same hospital. With family from both the United States and China, they wanted a destination that was at once easy to get in and out of, but also dynamic and exciting. Kailin specifically asked me for three very specific things: An indoor ceremony in a space that was dramatic and romantic, an outdoor reception with a view of the city, and bold colors that would stand up against the drama of the bright lights. Specifically, she wanted a deep, dark shade of red and sparkling accents.
As someone who spends her day-to-day life in scrubs and a doctor's coat, Kailin really wanted to have an element of glamour and drama at the wedding. For Min, after all of the years of hard work and studying, he just wanted the night to feel like the ultimate celebration.
Given their wish list, there was truly only one team that could have produced such a fete! Which château secured as our venue for a gorgeous indoor ceremony and outdoor reception, we tapped Randi Garrett and Naakiti Floral as our decorator, and DJ Starlene for entertainment. The wedding was beautifully documented by Adam Frazier photography and Lighten Films.
Bridesmaids were dressed in navy sequence knee length cocktail dresses, and her Man of Honor wore a gorgeous navy suit. Not to be outdone, the groom and his groomsmen were sharp in grey suits with navy ties to match the ladies. Such a pretty bunch!
Our bride was styled so beautifully, so perfectly. Her wedding gown, by Winnie Couture, fit like a second skin - as if it was made just for her. As a matter of fact, my husband – who served as the lead coordinator on this wedding – actually gasped and said "wow!" when he saw the first time. With her beauty being handle by Make Up in the 702, she was a regal and elegant beauty.
When mixing red, white, and blue there is a fear of looking a bit too Fourth of July – ish. We avoided this and took the feel into more of a winter wonderland by using deep, dark Black Magic Roses and berries. The bride's bouquet was thick and lush, with just enough airiness at the edges to give it a slightly deconstructed feel.
The couple enjoyed an intimate first look in the gardens of The Paris Hotel before taking photos with their bridal party. Afterwards, they were securely tucked away as guests arrived for the ceremony.
Large, read chandeliers hung above a trail of candles, which led to the fireplace altar. Our bride was brought down the aisle on the arm of her father, and presented to her groom for an beautiful ceremony lead by Pastor Doug Loman.
Immediately after the ceremony, the couple lead their guests to the rooftop of Château. We had a stunning backdrop to work with, as the lights of the city stretched out behind us and our view was set squarely on the dancing fountains of the Bellagio. To enhance space, we brought in white chandeliers, gold textured and sequence linens, and more candles along with rose petals and small groupings of florals.
Kailin & Min swayed underneath the legs of the Eiffel Tower for their first dance, before joining their guests in a feast of beef, seafood, and roasted vegetables along with a premium open bar and wine service.
As dinner came to a close, DJ Starlene of Sound Fusion distracted our guests, allowing the bride to slip out and change into a chinois red wedding gown. She reemerged to join her groom in the cutting of the cake, which was inspired by her bouquet and created by Peridot Sweets. After feeding one another, the couple took turns in the DJ booth, pretending to mix songs for their guests.
Kailin & Min are everything one could hope for in a couple… They were warm, genuine, and completely in love. The smiles on their faces rival the lights of the city, and I personally feel so honored to have been selected as their wedding planner.
