Ask anyone planning a wedding where the look for information and inspiration, and The Knot will undoubtably be one of the first responses you get. Since it's inception in 1996, The Knot has been the country's leading go-to source for couples planning weddings both here and abroad. As an authority on wedding planning and style arbitrator for couples seeking guidance, The Knot is often the first place newly engaged couples register when they begin searching for vendors and looking for expert advice. So you can imagine how excited I was when they approached me about planning this year's #TheKnotRocksWMBA Event at HYDE Bellagio.
Having opened The Bellagio as a wedding planner in (cough) 1998 and then returning to helm the opening of HYDE in 2011, going there has always felt like going home. I wanted to do justice to all three iconic brands in a way that felt special and curated and couture, but not overtly in the vein of "wedding" decor.
My proposal to The Knot Pro team began like this...
Imagine, if you will, a Midsummer Night's Dream come to life....in the decaying mansion of Great Expectations, with just a touch of Sean Parker's woodland wedding....and a hint of Maleficent.
Confused? So was I when I first began trying to design something that would work in Hyde. The space itself is so residential and so special; much like an old villa from a place that time forgot. With a strong, masculine sense and something that feels like the library of a hunter, my goal for the party is to not outthink the room, but to enhance it.
And enhance it we did! With special thanks to the creative force that is By Dzign here in Las Vegas, with the lighting techs from HYDE and Bellagio.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to The Knot for entrusting me with this event, and for giving me the creative freedom to play outside of the box, breaking the mold of what I typically do...
Which included, of course, my beautifully dressed models that donned horse heads and glittering fox masks along with jewels by Alexis Bittar, who was also generous enough to dress my team and I in pieces worthy of the event!
None of this would have been possible to do without the support and generosity of the many, many people who came together to create and document this glorious event!
