When Alice and Jimmy called me about planning their wedding, there was only one thing the bride really wanted: FUN! And not just the every day, "oh that was a fun wedding" kind of fun...She wanted BIG fun. So big fun is what she got!
Having met in college, Alice fell in love with Jimmy's swagger. He was drawn to her energy. For over ten years the two grew together, traveled together, and planned a life that is no centered around their family restaurant, Dolce Bistro. After years of catering to other people, Alice and Jimmy wanted a destination wedding that showcased their love of food, drink, service in an environment that was bold, sexy, and fit for the party of a lifetime!
Spending time with the bride while she gets ready is one of my favorite things to do. Everyone is so excited, and there is this calm before the storm anticipation that just fills the room. It also gives me a change to play stylist, to help decide which necklace is best, and - in this case - when we learned that Alice forgot her earrings I lent her mine. It was an honor to see her wear them....And a small heart attack at the end of the night when I left without them and had to go back!
I also take this opportunity to go and peak in on the groom. Jimmy was as cool as could be as he prepared himself and waited to meet Alice for the first look.
To celebrate the couple's love of color, we headed downtown to The Arts District to capture bridal party portraits in front of some cool original pieces put up around the city.
For the ceremony, we wanted to create an environment that was dramatic, and that would feed the emotion of the day. Lighting played a big part in creating the perfect atmosphere. We added soft lavender and ambers to temper the traditionally red lighting that exists in Chateau. Candles, rose petals, and garlands of orchids completed the look.
The ceremony was truly a family affair, with children, parents, cousins and friends all joining together to witness Alice & Jimmy's wedding, which was officiated by a friend.
Working with such a bold color palette was super fun for me. Taking inspiration from the colors in a peacock feather, we wanted a wedding that was decorated in shares of purple and teal, without being too literal and using actual feathers.
The bride and groom shared their first dance before taking to their seats, where they were toasted and roasted by the bride's father. As dinner came to a close, the bride's baby brother took center stage, serenading his sister and her new husband.
To kick off the festivities, we arranged for a surprise confetti cannon explosion, which took everyone by surprise and got the party started on a high energy note! Guests were able to enjoy dancing, a photo booth, and a flip booth before the bouquet and garter toss.
At the end of the evening, Alice changed out of her gown and into a short dress for the after party, which continued as Chateau opened to the public. The newly married couple enjoyed an extended weekend in Las Vegas before returning to California.
Thank you to our friends at The Little Vegas Wedding for showcasing Alice & Jimmy as one of the Real Couples featured on their blog!

So What Happened Behind the Scenes?????
That's me...getting checked out by the doctor! We dropped a statue on my foot while setting up that stunning dress shot. Broke two toes and fractured another...But it was totally worth it! And totally embarrassing! I finished the night though....Because we don't call in sick here!
