Engage!12 ~ Two Weeks Later & It's the People Who Remain
As a complete and utter wedding nerd, I will admit to reading and rereading the notes I took at Engage!12 over and over again. But as time marches on and I look back at the events that commenced nearly two weeks ago, I have to tell you that - truly - it's the people who remain fresh in my mind, that can take me back to that moment as if it were just seconds ago!
A few of them I just have to share...
Standing on line to check in for the conference, with the formidable and adorable Miss Mindy Weiss just steps ahead of me! Talk about starting off on the right foot!
Meeting illustrious wedding photographer Genevieve de Manio, with whom I instantly connected with over our shared nickname (Gigi). If her name looks familiar, it should...She shot Chelsea Clinton's Wedding! Fantastic girl talk over lunch!
Telling a moderately inappropriate joke in an elevator, which let to two gentleman asking if they could join our crew for drinks after the opening session. Turns out it was none other than the amazing masterminds from Inside Weddings Magazine - Editor in Chief Walt Shepard and Creative Director Art Scangas. Wicked senses of humor on both!
Only to nearly faint on the pool deck that evening from mild dehydration. Yes, I was "that girl"! But were it not for that I may not have met Alison Howard, Suzanne Hansen of She Wanders Photography, Donal Akin of One & Only Palmilla, and all of he amazing ladies from The Mandarin Oriental.
Listening to Cindy Novotny of Master Connection speak...What a firecracker, somewhat of a ball breaker, and 100% correct in her assertions! We had dinner together during the dine-around, shared a car ride back to the Mandarin, and I feel as if I found a friend!
Seeking out the other 3 pregnant wedding people at the conference. Together we timed bathroom breaks, shared snacks, talked about kids, and outlined our plans for attacking maternity leave without leave! What a sisterhood of mommies!
Brian Worley of YOUR Bash...Not only did we dress as pregnant prom queens and pimps for our photo booth photo, but only he could drag my swollen and very pregnant butt up onto a couch to for late night dancing at the Gala Event.
Sylvia Weinstock...Meeting her husband, hearing their love story, and watching her tweet. All before being playfully chastised by her! It was an honor and a pleasure!
Jes Gordon...I now have an undeniable girl crush on every breath this woman takes. She is a rock star goddess from another planet! And I heart her hard!
Bernadette Smith of 14 Stories...I have followed her on Twitter and always been an admirer of her work. After a few shared moments during out final night there, I made the In Real Life list. Next time, we dance!
Bonding with Ellen Black of Lehr & Black over our love of bulldogs, children and long-term engagements!
The list goes on and on. I could never in a million years reference all of the amazing people I met or bring the life the moments we shared. But one thing is certain - Each of us brought a unique perspective to this conference, teaching each other and learning from one another over the course of three amazing days! Wedding Planners and Professionals come together in our own marriage of sorts, merging out strengths, defying our weaknesses, and creating something beautiful each and every time we are lucky enough to be called upon!
To all of my Las Vegas friends ~ Juliet Douglas of Green Orchid Events, Randi Garrett of Naakiti Floral, Dennis Silknitter of The Four Seasons, Britt Bertino of Simply Weddings by Brit Bertino, Rebecca Stebbins and Shanna Rather Min of The Venetian Resort, Karin Gillard of Bellagio Resort, and more...Couldn't have been prouder to be a part of this with you and represent the Las Vegas Luxury Weddings! My best moments were spent with you!
See everyone at Engage!13!
