In just 6 short months the adorable Rebecca will marry a very dashing Andrew at The M Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
I remember receiving a copy of the emailed Engagement Announcement from a mutual friend. I took one look at them in the gondola, with the city of New York behind them, and I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of their wedding.
Today, I wanted to celebrate them by looking back on their engagement as we move forward towards their future!
6 Months and Counting! I can't wait!
The Engagement Story ~ As told by Rebecca!
Andrew and I flew out to New York to vacation as well as celebrate the birth of his first niece, Giovanna, his brother Johns first child.
We decided to have one day in the city an stayed in the Fashion District. Throughout the day Andrew was very sentimental yet very on edge and I couldn't figure out why.
I knew we were going to central park as I asked Andrew before we left if we could go there as it was my favorite memory as a child. On our way there Andrew was very on edge, I mentioned I was hungry and he acted like I said I hadn't eaten in 5 days, he frantically ordered me room service :) He wanted everything to be so perfect. Then, on the way to the Boat House in Central Park ,we had two taxis refuse to take us. We didn't even know they could do that!) It took a while, but we finally found a taxi that would take us and Andrew pretty much made me run through central park in my stilettos so we could catch the gondola!
Suddenly, everyone began cheering. I was taking in the scenery and looked around to see what happened, thinking maybe a boat had flipped. That's when I saw Andrew, proposing on bender knee in the middle of the lake. He said, "Baby, will you be with me forever? Will you marry me?" We kissed and it seemed like everyone on the lake took pictures and cheered for us. It was a very cool moment.
Andrew opened my favorite champagne, Pierre Peters, and we spent the rest of the ride enjoying the park and each other. When we docked at The Boat House Andrew's brother and sister surprised us with more champagne and toasts as we called our families to tell them the good news. Which is when I learned that Andrew had already asked my family for permission. A fabulous Italian feast of a dinner at Locanda Verde followed.
Our gondolier had only been there a few weeks and said he would remember us the rest of his life. Neither will we!
