Celebrating the Engagement of Anna and Angelo
Being someone who loves love, I always ask my couples to tell me about how they met, how they fell in love, and what their hope for the future are. Many times, I find myself crafting this into a short biography that I can share with our creative partners and on my blog. But sometimes, the couple turns in something so spectacular, that I can't even take credit for it, and I don't change a word. Such is the love story of Anna Akopian and Angelo Langadakis.
Love Happens When You're Not Looking . . .
On February 12, 2010, two young accountants met at a hookah bar on a cold day that winter in New York. Tax season was only getting more demanding for Angelo, and classes were only getting more challenging for Anna. There was barely enough time and energy for life's demands, let alone their new relationship, yet somehow, they both knew that things would work out.
A few weeks after Anna and Angelo met, they started seeing each other regularly. Thereafter, Angelo read a fortune cookie that said he would be making a bad decision soon, so he decided to go to law school. A few months later, Anna had graduated from accounting student to a full-time accountant. The two struggled together, as the pressures of school, work, family, and life pushed them both to their limits. Yet, rather than break, together, they both grew stronger.
What they both discovered is that the strength of their relationship was not founded on their pleasant moments together, but on their ability to suffer, endure, and persevere through life's tides and storms as partners. Their experiences through life and their simultaneous struggles united them much before any nuptial vows could be made. Angelo and Anna welcome those closest to them to celebrate not promises of commitment, but an acknowledgement made with the utmost certainty that Angelo and Anna have both found within each other their life's true partner.
"A diamond is just coal that handled stress really well."
- American proverb
"The toughest metal is forged in the hottest fire."
- Japanese proverb
I love that they closed with two proverbs. It just feels so....eternal! Like the two of them have always existed, will always exist. As if it were destined.
Having selected the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas as the site for their wedding, and the slightly unorthodox date of October 31, 2015, the two wanted something that would feel luxurious, dramatic, and very old-world. What we have designed along with our friends at DBD is certain to delight and surprise their guests, and no couple deserves a spectacular show more than these two!
So join us as we count down the days to their magnificent celebration, and leave a happy note for them below!
