Behind the Scenes at a Vintage Glam Wedding at the Flamingo Las Vegas
When I was called to meet Lindsey Greene, a marketing genius who has sat at the helm of some of the top tech and fashion companies in the country, and Lockhart Steele, founder of cult followed websites such as Eater.com, Curbed, etc. I had no idea what to expect. We talked food and wine, travel, Dropbox, and more before getting down to the wedding details. "We definitely want to buy out CommeCa for the rehearsal dinner" said Lock, and who could blame him.
But what about the wedding? "That's at the Flamingo."
Yup. Didn't see that one coming. One would expect such a modern couple to be looking for the newest, the latest, and the greatest. But that's what makes their choice of the Flamingo so genius.
Opened in 1946, the Flamingo is an iconic landmark, a part of the Las Vegas landscape that has been visited and seen by millions over the years. The grounds are lush, the animals are close enough to touch (literally, you can have your picture taken with a parrot on your shoulder, and there is the feeling that you have stepped back in time to the days of Bugsy and his crew. Lindsey visited the property on her first trip to Vegas with her father. She fell in love with the lights, the pink, and the trees. Her dad told her that someday he would bring her back so she could get married there. And so, on this day, he did.
I love how Lindsey loves the Flamingo for all of it's Vegas glory. And how Lock reveals in his inner foodie, serving over SEVEN courses at their rehearsal dinner. Their families are everything you would want them to be - fun, emotional, endearing, and real. Their friends, a mix of intellectuals, childhood buddies, work friends, girlfriends, and hipsters - but not in that sudo ironic way, in the way of "we just are who we are". It made for quite the fun dance party! And please, let's not even talk about the after party! My feet are still sore!
Lindsey and Lockhart's day was documented by their close friend and spectacular New York photographer, Corry Arnold. And while we wait for what I know will be some incredible photos, I wanted to share a few of my own.
L&L, I feel like I have found two lifetime friends! No doubt we will play together the next time you are in Vegas, and I will forever think of Lindsey whenever Prime Rib, Shrimp Cocktail, and super sugary icing cross my path!
Thank you for picking me! I had the best time ever!
