What a spectacular night for a dinner party!
Qualys is an internet securities company based in San Francisco. Twice a year they gather their partners and clients from around the world and meet in Las Vegas for education, advancement and, of course, one big blow out night of food and fun! Having worked on two of their cocktail parties in the past, I knew that their gala dinner celebration would require something different and magnificent! I have been lucky enough to work with them for the past few years as their local, Las Vegas event planner, and cannot tell you how much fun we have together! Seriously, it shouldn't be allowed!
Welcome to my behind the scenes look at what it takes to host 350 people for dinner at the Keep Memory Alive Center!
The KMAC is truly the epitome of a "special" space. The room is raw and completely empty when not in use. Hosting an event here requires vast efforts on the part of the in house event team and the catering and service crew. Throughout the day and night there were no fewer than 45 people working behind the scenes to create a stunning and interactive evening.
Once the tables were set and dressed with linens, our friends from Naakiti Floral came in to construct really fantastic centerpieces. We wanted something that felt rich and dramatic, while complimenting the Frank Gehry architecture of the room.
To add interest and keep the eye moving, each table featured a different style of centerpiece. Some were low, surrounded by candles. Others were high and featured mirrored tops, giving guests another view of the ceiling and windows. Still others were softer, with curves that cradled pomander balls of roses.
Have you ever wondered what it takes to actually feed a party of 200, 300 or more? It is no small task! But the team at Wolfgang Puck Catering provided seamless service, and ran the kitchen with the authority and precision of a military operation! Impressive to watch!
Everything about this evening was stunning! From the spectacular architecture and ambiance of the Keep Memory Alive Center to the gorgeous flowers by Naakiti Florals and the food from Wolfgang Puck Catering, guests raved about each and ever element came together beautifully.
On a personal note...I love, love, LOVE planning weddings! But I have to say, there is something about throwing a gala and the occasional birthday party that just excites me and gets my creative juices flowing in a completely different way! It's nice to mix it up a bit and shake things up...Especially when I get to do it with awesome and amazing people that I love! Special thanks to the lovely ladies of Qualys Maria Nardi and Victoria Venturi for making me a part of the team.
And to the incomparable David Watts. David, I've worked with you for nearly 15 years now and you never cease to amaze me. Events like this are why I love you too much!
