2013 ~ The Year of the "Un-Trend"
Happy New Year Friends!
Just like you, I've spent the last week or so thinking about the last year, and planning for the new one. In talking to family and friends, catching up with former (and current) couples and reviewing photos there is one thing that stands our and resonated with me, and of which I am extremely proud...And that is the lack of trendiness in my work!
Sure, I worked with brides who wore dresses that were not quite white (midnight blue, anyone?) and I set up an old school photo booth with props plus. But neither of these elements appeared because they were on trend. Nope, not for my couples! Anything and everything we did this year came from a true, authentic and personal place that spoke to my couples and to their guests. From the bride who decided to forgo flowers beyond those the family carried down the aisle to the groom-to-be who wanted the entire room bathed in purple light to signify the bride's power color, each person I worked with this year had a unique perspective, a strong point of view and they all looked for new ways to express that.
And isn't that what this is all about? Telling your story? Celebrating your love? Making promises to each other about your future?
So go ahead! Surf the net! Bookmark the blogs and Pin all the pretty pictures you want! But remember, trends begin and end. Your wedding and your love should be classic, timeless and eternal!
And in that spirit, I wish you a very Happy New Year filled with life, luxury and above all else...Love!
To the Year of the Un-Trend!
